    This has got to be, hands down, the most popular spot in Downtown Redwood City.  It's far from being called a "hole-in-the-wall".

    And, it has reason to be:
    ====================
    #1 - Beautiful space (maybe an old Bank building?)
    #2 - Wonderful service (by all: hostess, manager, bartender, server)
    #3 - Ample, large menu, with many choices (both traditional and modern)

    With that said and out of the way, it's also:
    =================================
    Very pricey for just better than average food.  For example, I got the $18 enchilada with pulled beef (aka shredded) and the chipotle sauce (my choice), served with rice and beans.  Presented quite lovely, but one memory still remains with me: gringo edition.  It's also one very large enchilada, basically, no different is flavor that a wet burrito. Matter of fact, it was made with a flour tortilla.  [3.5 stars]

    The good news is that they have a choice of sauces from the traditional red/roja to mole, 8 types in all.  That's nice!

    Would I go back?
    ==============
    Yes!  Drinks are pricey, too, but with delicious chips and salsas -- that's definitely a hit with me.  It has a great vibe (hey, there's people here!), and with tippy-top service, it's quite a nice experience!

    DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT!!! They have obviously not staffed their kitchen or the front of the house to be able to support it. Before I get into my review of my experience, I do want to be fair. My wife had a very good meal here. From what I can tell from my meal, their food is likely very good. During the 45 minutes that I sat at the bar waiting, it seemed like a good atmosphere. I would certainly consider eating in the restaurant.

    That said, we ordered take out tonight and it was the worst take out experience I can remember. The app said it would be 25-30 minutes. When I got there, I had to wait several minutes because the hostess was nowhere to be seen. When she did finally appear, she said the kitchen was backed up and it would be a few minutes so I took a seat at the bar. (Mind you, it was 5:30 and they open at 5:00 for dinner so within half of an hour of opening, they were already behind.) After 45 minutes, they finally bring out my order and ask me to check it to make sure it's all there. I do this, and it was all there. Although it turns out that my son's carna asada burrito (while labeled correctly) was just a carna asada plate. And like everything else, it was cold. The only thing that was good was the ceviche because it was supposed to be cold.

    I called to leave a message about the terrible service. Their voicemail said that they don't check it and it was full anyway. Since I can't leave them a private voicemail about their lack of staffing for takeout, I'm giving them this public 1-star review.

    The best Mexican food in RWC. I prefer this over Sancho's because it's more accessible and friendlier to meet people at. The food is great almost every time. The price certainly adds up and sometimes it's a bit loud and chaotic (say nothing of the adjacent tech companies sometimes invading the space) but I've enjoyed coming back almost every time.

    Dishes that are worth it:

    Tampiquena is a great plate for the indecisive or the kitchen sink people like me.

    Anything with mole on it. They'll let you try a sample of it if you ask (as many people I've dined with don't know what it is or how it tastes).

    Fish tacos are fresh and balance out that toxic 'chip belly' feeling you usually get after eating Mexican food (it's from eating all the oil on the chips and salsa, btw).

    Food is delicious!! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the bay area.
    Loved the complimentary chips and 3 salsas they gave soon after seating. The salsas were not too spicy either and the chips were fresh. The cheese and spinach enchiladas with mole and nueva was delicious. The restaurant doesn't take reservations on the weekends, which took us 30 minutes to get a table on a Saturday. Hope they offer reservations for the weekend soon! This place was packed! Highly recommended.

    FOR THE PRICE PLEASE GO GET BETTER SERVICE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

    Giving this place a 3 because although I usually love the food here, the customer service needs some improvement.

    My coworkers and I went out for our office lunch we ordered and had one of our associates order over the phone (nothing new, we usually do this when someone wants to edit a part of their order) they've done this before and just add it to our tab, we approved it and everything was fine.

    Unfortunately for us that was the last we saw of the waiter. Don't you just love eating a full plate without a drink? *sarcasm*

    Later when we got back into the office our associate was upset because the person on the phone, which I can confirm was the same man that helped us out, was rude to her. He didn't want to help her out and was saying no at first she had to explain it a couple of times that he'd just add our bill. Later is when he made the effort to come and ask.

    The only reason they called was because they had custom orders. The orders came back exactly the same. So all that hassle over the phone and putting up with rude attitude for nothing!

    Or maybe he did it on purpose because he thought it was troublesome to add onto an order and pack food to go.. something I'm sure they do on the regular since this a RESTAURANT.

    But the no utensils in any of the bags was what really took the cake.

    Anyways if you're gonna go here fingers crossed you don't get server #279, otherwise it'll be a hit or miss.
